Ambulatory

Our Ambulatory services are designed to assist patients or clients who are able to walk independently or with minimal assistance but are unable to drive themselves to medical appointments. These services may also include limited assistance with mobility, entering and exiting the vehicle, and other basic daily activities related to transportation.

Professional Drivers

All MedRide employees receive in-depth medical transportation and sensitivity training. Our drivers are thoroughly vetted with background checks and a detailed driving record review. Wheelchair

Our Stretcher-Alternative Services provide a safe, cost-effective transportation solution for medically stable, bed-bound clients who do not require ambulance-level stretcher transport.

We utilize the Traversa® Transport Wheelchair, a specialized transport system designed to allow patients to remain in a reclined, secure position while being safely transferred and transported. This system enhances safety, dignity, and comfort while reducing the need for traditional stretcher transport.

This service replaces many traditional stretcher requests by offering a secure, efficient option for patients traveling to medical appointments, dialysis treatments, hospital discharges, rehabilitation facilities, or other healthcare destinations.

Our trained staff ensure proper positioning, securement, and monitoring throughout transport to maintain safety and comfort at all times.

We provide safe, door-to-door transport for scheduled medical appointments and other approved destinations.

Can the driver assist me into my home?

Yes. The driver is able to make sure that you settle in comfortably.

I have a procedure scheduled that requires someone stay with me during the process. My family is not available to accompany me on this day, but this is a very important appointment! Are you able to wait for me during my procedure and then transport me back home?

Yes. After you submit your information through our “Request a Ride”, we will have a representative contact you by phone or via email. At that time you can inquire about any additional information.

Are your drivers medically trained?

Our drivers are professionally trained to provide safe, courteous transportation assistance. They are trained in:

Defensive driving
Safe passenger handling procedures
Wheelchair securement
Passenger assistance techniques
CPR certification

While our drivers maintain CPR certification for emergency preparedness, MedRide is a non-emergency medical transportation provider. Our drivers are not licensed medical professionals and do not provide medical treatment during transport.

If a medical emergency occurs, emergency services (911) will be contacted immediately.

Can family members ride along?

In many cases, one accompanying adult may ride along, subject to space availability and safety requirements.

Please inform us in advance so we can accommodate appropriately.

Can the driver assist me while getting into the vehicle?

Yes. The driver will assist you from the front door to the vehicle, and if you have any bags or other loose items he/she will assist in placing those items into the vehicle.

How will the nurse contact my driver after the procedure is over?

The driver will give you a card with his/her name and phone number. You can give the card to the nurse or receptionist so they can call your driver with instructions. The driver will pull up to the location given by the nurse to assist you in the vehicle.

Do any of your drivers have a criminal record?

No. We do an extensive criminal background check on all our drivers and the company only hires individuals with a clean record.

Do I pay the driver when he/she arrives to pick me up?

No. All payments are made 24-48 hours before the transport through a Customer Service Representative or via email invoice. If you desire to tip your driver, you are more than welcome, however it is not required.

Do you provide emergency medical services?

No. MedRide is a non-emergency medical transportation provider.

We do not provide emergency medical care, ambulance services, or medical treatment during transport.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately.

Do you assist passengers from door to door?

Yes. We provide door-to-door service, which includes assistance entering and exiting the vehicle safely.

For safety and liability reasons, our drivers:

Do not lift passengers manually without proper equipment
Do not provide in-home medical care
Do not administer medication

Additional assistance may be arranged when requested in advance.
